Marriage proposal stories
My boyfriend proposed by taking me for a walk on the beach and when we reached one spot I noticed that there was writing on the sand (apparently he had gotten his friends to write 'marry me') earlier on and topped it off with some champagne in a wine cooler (they were hiding in the bushes watching the whole show). I said yes of course and then later we went ahead to pick an engagement ring. I know some of my girlfriends think that he should've had the ring in hand when he made his marriage proposal but he wanted me to pick something I really liked so I was happy that he made that choice. My marriage proposal was disastrous from the word go. But I think the fact that it was disastrous made it memorable. lol! My boyfriend had hired a boat (one of those rowing ones) and he was trying to row us out to a particularly scenic spot in which to propose. He huffed and he puffed and was all sweaty and hot when we finally got there. In his excitement to get the ring out of his pocket, he knocked one of the oars overboard. He then asked me rather hurriedly if I would marry him...all that time all I was thinking of was the oar. lol! I quickly said yes and then we spent the rest of the time trying to get that oar back onto the boat. My boyfriend proposed on a plane. It was a big surprise for me. We were just on a trip to visit my parents overseas and in the middle of dinner, he suddenly got up (I thought he was going to the toilet!) and then dropped on his knee and proposed. Everyone was staring at him and I was speechless. I just nodded my head and the whole plane cabin burst into applause. It was a very memorable experience from a very special person. My engagement ring was a diamond with 2 rubies on the side (my favorite color is red) so I was delighted with his choice. For those of you out there who are stuck for ideas, think about your girlfriend - what she likes and what she appreciates, then give it to her and you can't go wrong. My boyfriend proposed to me as I was about to leave on a train trip to the countryside for some work experience. I was dazed but managed to say yes and then sat there the whole time during the train trip wondering what I had just got myself into. There was no ring, no fancy fanfare, just a plain, 'marry me?'. It was romantic for me - even though a lot of my girlfriends thought I let him get away with it too lightly. For those of you planning to take that step, my advice is to keep it simple, don't go overboard with elaborate gestures, if she really loves you, she will see all your efforts big or small and love you for it!
