Surprisingly most people would associate the golden yellow labradors as the ones that so typify the breed. Yellow labs are the sunshine - with happy dispositions that just always brighten whatever corner of the world they make them selves known. They are predisposed to the usual elbow and hip dysplasia and inherited eye problems that all labrador retrievers are noted for, so get one from a reputable breeder with papers from the parents proving that they have been vet checked. Whilst it's not always a surety that you will get a sound dog, there is a higher likelihood that you won't get one that's going to be riddled with problems from the word go.
